Poetry Discussion: Jane Draycott

Sat 20th May : 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

Jane Draycott Poet

The Centre’s small and friendly poetry group, led by Edmund Prestwich — all welcome. A free event, no need to book. This is a second session on Jane Draycott, no need to have come to April’s session to come to this one though. We’ll look at a number of poems from her collections The Night Tree and Over – these listed and maybe some more:

What is held here
The Lost Girls (first poem in the Matchless sequence)
No. 3 from Uses for the Thames

The Square
In the same way
After the meal
In the same way

Please read the poems in advance and bring copies along. Edmund’s website carries full information on finding copies of the poems to be discussed.

Monthly Poetry Discussion

We usually get together on the second Saturday of the month (although not this time!) to discuss a poet and their work, usually a modern one. Keep an eye on What’s On for details. For this kind of event, it's always safest to check the website before setting off in case the details have changed

Creative Writing at the Buddhist Centre

The other poetry group here – where writers meet to discuss each others’ work – is not able to fit any more new members in the room at the moment – sorry. There are occasional one-off creative writing events though – check What’s On.

Health issues

If there are any health issues, physical, emotional or mental, that could affect your participation in a course or event, please contact the Buddhist Centre on 0161 834 9232, and ask to talk confidentially to one of our Order members, before deciding whether to attend.

Supporting the Buddhist Centre

Please help us keep as many events as we can for free, by donating towards the upkeep and running of the Centre
