On the full-moon day of July, pre­cisely two months after his Enlight­en­ment at Buddhagaya, the Buddha delivered his first dis­course to the group of five ascet­ics who had been His dis­ciples pre­vi­ously. This is often called the First Turn­ing of the Wheel of the Dharma.
