Manchester Buddhist Centre past and present

Seventeen years ago, a group of Manchester Buddhists took on a derelict six-storey warehouse in a run-down part of town

Two years later they opened the stunning centre we still have today. Many of us weren’t around to see this happen and it can be hard now to imagine how on earth they did it.

Padmadarshini, one of the Centre’s trustees, has spoken to some of the key figures and recorded a story of extraordinary commitment, generosity and creativity.

Times have changed but what continues is our collective ability to keep the centre alive and growing. Padmadarshini now invites and incites us all to bring our own twenty-first century energy, talent and commitment to find ways to do this.
