Going inward — daily practice from solstice to new year

The Christmas holiday season impinges deeply on our awareness, however much our hearts are in it

As Buddhists, we may have family obligations that we need to honour, and yet feel a strong need for the grounded support of the Dharma and the continuing friendship of the Sangha.

This year we’re again providing a daily opportunity for practice, led by a variety of experienced Order members and in the company of our fellow Sangha members.

Our eleven — day programme runs from the winter solstice on 22nd December to New Year’s Day, and its theme is Going Inward.

At this darkest time of the year, our natural inclination is to turn our backs on the cold and dark outside, spending time at the fireside, real or symbolic, and turning our attention within ourselves. Our daily sessions will include meditation, reflection and enough of the Buddha’s teaching to encourage this gentle introspection.

By the end of the period we may find ourselves well-prepared to look outwards again and greet a new year with renewed inner energy.

All Sangha members are warmly invited to attend any or all of these sessions!

New to Buddhism?

Over the same period, we’re running a Buddhism drop-in most days — Tools for Living your Life. All welcome, no experience needed, see calendar for dates and details
