Earth Cafe news

Outside view of Buddhist Centre and CafeEarth vegetarian cafe, in the Buddhist Centre basement, is changing

After Saturday 24th July it’s closing for two weeks and reopening in a different way at 11 am on Monday 9th August.

Dominic Berry tells us more …

On Monday 9th there will be some acoustic music acts playing throughout the day for free and some changes to the menu, also an exhibition by photographer Ian Wallis. On the 9th there will be a complimentary fresh fruit juice for everyone coming to see the photos and a free light buffet that evening, 6 — 8 pm.

Full opening days and times from then on will be announced soon.

What about the food?

There are no plans for Earth to stop selling all vegan food. But the menu will change. A lot of people have been giving their opinions on what they do and don’t like about the food, the prices and the different things that happen at Earth and the new look Earth will be a result of having listened to all this. We still want your ideas!

More events

There will be a much greater focus on regular events at Earth. The existing ones have been really popular and well received so there are plans for a great deal more to happen in this space — especially in the evenings. Earth are really keen on supporting people in the community in getting their events happening and using the cafe as a space for this.

So far we have events taking place on 9th, 13th, 18th and 25th August

I’m going to be working with Earth for a bit to help set up lots of different types of events — poetry, music, comedy, live art exhibits, meetings, clubs — you name it! The people who will be staffing Earth are really keen to support and assist events organisers and those who attend the events.

Send your ideas!

If you want to chat about ideas for stuff that could happen, please message me -

Living in Manchester’s northern quarter, I see many small, local businesses come and go. I see more and more chain stores taking over. I think Manchester’s really lucky to have Earth, I really want to see how it can evolve and I’m really up for working to make some great stuff happen there.
