About the Manchester Buddhist Centre

How we run the Buddhist Centre

The Buddhist Centre is a charity and we rely on the support of people who use the building

Part of the FWBO

The FWBO stands for the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order, the Buddhist movement which the Manchester Buddhist Centre is part of. Each Buddhist Centre in the FWBO is financially and legally independent.

Giving

We survive on donations and contributions. We have a large group of volunteers who support us by working in a variety of ways.

Moving into the City

Previously the Buddhist centre was housed in a semi-detached house in Chorlton, south Manchester.

Old Buddhist Centre premises on Wilbraham Road

When the idea of a building in the city centre came up, it was so that more people could access and benefit from the Buddha’s teachings. Being in the heart of Manchester with the many thousands of people in the area, we believe we can best serve the people of Greater Manchester
