Visiting Teachers

Saddhanandi

SaddhanandiSaddhanandi sees her practice mainly in terms of developing loving-kindness and mindfulness, describing herself as following a path of “becoming more deeply human”. She is also the chairwoman of Taraloka Buddhist Retreat Centre for Women in Shropshire. She has been teaching on retreats since she was ordained in 1984, establishing excellent ways of communicating to the huge variety of women who come there.

Paramananda

Paramananda has taught meditation for twenty years and is the author of two popular books on meditation. He was chairman of the San Francisco Buddhist Centre and has taught meditation in settings from prison, hospices and drug rehab centres to corporations. He is completing a PhD on meditation in the workplace.

Paramananda

Wolf at the Door writing workshops

Ananda and Manjusvara teach the Wolf at the Door writing workshops
AnandaThese workshops use discussion and group assignments to activate the imagination and release energy that has been locked up by years of negative conditioning. Some of the most important elements are the friendship, trust and communication which usually develops quickly within the group. This gives students the confidence to try things out and communicate ideas without fear of being judged or criticised inappropriately.
Manjusvara

Emerging out of the workshops, Manjusvara’s book, Writing Your Way (available in the Centre’s shop) helps us to see writing as a transformative tool in our search for wholeness. He expertly guides us to the heart of writing as well as to aspects of Buddhism, with writing exercises that delicately weave in teachings on mindfulness and compassion, freedom and openness.

Dhammagita

Teaches body work and meditation with humour, sincerity and fun. She has done extensive training in the US with author and meditation teacher Reggie Ray.

Tejananda

TejanandaTejananda has been practising Buddhism and meditation for over thirty years. He has written a book, The Buddhist Path to Awakening, published by Windhorse Publications, and taught meditation and Dharma in many parts of the UK, Europe and the USA.

He has been part of the resident teaching team at Vajraloka Meditation Retreat Centre since 1995 and became chairman of the centre in 2001. In meditation and Dharma practice he is particularly inspired by the formless meditations of the Tibetan Mahamudra and Dzogchen traditions which all find reflection in his Entering Pure Awareness retreats.
